Common mistakes by international tour agents/partners in our day today tour operations
Get to know the common mistakes by International tour agents/partners in our day-to-day tour operations. Much as we treasure our international partners by the large volume of business that they send to us, it is very important to understand some of their weaknesses and understand the biggest mistakes that we always need to take note of as ground handlers back in Uganda.
- Over-promising clients Some agents but not all agents do this, it is a bad practice to make clients over-expect what they have paid for. Other agents promise safari jeeps yet they are very sure that in Uganda, we use old safari vans and Land Cruisers as safari vehicles as opposed to our counterparts in Southern Africa.
- Miscommunication to clients This is one of the biggest mistakes agents commit. They do so in the name of winning their customers from their competitions, for example, they may confirm to them that it is a guarantee to see the tree-climbing lions in Ishasha some that are not the case with wild animals or inform the clients that their rooms have Ac yet the ground operator has different communication and this can spark in to safari mismanagement.
- Manifest dishonesty Dishonesty can be exhibited in making financial obligations as per the contract. Some agents can choose to pay on each safari departure and others can choose to pay at the end of the safari. With dishonesty, agents fail to meet their obligations and never pay after the execution of the safari. Paying for additionals of the safari especially when the safari is already moving can be a challenge to dishonesty agents
- Overcharge This is a common practice with many agents, always the ground handler takes a small percentage of what agents charge. It is advised to keep the quality of the safari for the clients the fact they paid lots of money to their agent that in the end shared this business with you.
